Eminem, Edginess Missing From Chrysler's New "Imported From Detroit" Commercials

DETROIT — The latest batch of Chrysler's "Imported from Detroit" commercials are beginning to roll out, but they are missing Eminem and some of the edginess from Chrysler's now-legendary 2011 Super Bowl commercial.

Five new Imported from Detroit commercials, featuring the Chrysler Town & Country minivan, will roll out in the coming months and are already on YouTube.

Chrysler previewed some of the commercials on its media Web site on Wednesday, showing off rather tame offerings in comparison to the controversial Super Bowl ad.

One of the new commercials is called "Whisper" and it features a woman's voice softly describing the minivan's safety attributes, but in a way that doesn't awaken a sleeping child in a rear seat. It stands in stark contrast to the gritty rapper and the goosebump-inducing gospel choir in the original Imported from Detroit commercial.

The new ads feature "several young, inspiring stars of Detroit," according to Chrysler. They include LaTonya King, a female boxer who trains at the Kronk Gym in Detroit, and Mason Pew, a member of the Novi Wildcats, a hockey team. "You'll find them with their heads down, working their butts off," says the announcer in the ad that features Pew.

Chrysler's 2011 Super Bowl commercial, which created an Internet sensation, has been viewed nearly 11 million times on YouTube and inspired a line of clothing sold by the automaker.

I expected to see eminem in the video but anyway good topic
